Born in New York and raised in Chelsea, London, Khan is the daughter of Ali Rizvi Khan, a Muslim Indian American, and Rabiya Amin, a Hindi film actress in the 1980s from Agra and most remembered in Tahir Hussain's Dulha Bikta Hai. Khan has been rumored to be the daughter of Tahir Hussain and therefore related to Aamir Khan, but she dismissed the story as untrue. Khan has two younger sisters. Though born Nafisa, she changed her name to Jiah after Angelina Jolie's movie GIA, citing that it was sexier.
Khan's childhood is characterized by an absent father figure and frequent encounters with poverty. By the time she was 3 months old, Khan's father left his family for another woman. Eventually, her mother moved the family to London, where Amin worked as a party hostess and remarried. The second marriage ended in 1995 and left Khan, her mother, and her sisters penniless, homeless, and with little to no support. Despite her rise to stardom, Khan continues to have an estranged relationship with her father. Her mother is now a writer for television in the UK and BBC.
Khan is trained in opera and plays the piano. She can dance salsa, lambada, samba and Kathak.

Jiah Khan (born 20 February 1988) is a Bollywood actress. She is the daughter of actress Rabia. She was born in New York and later moved to London. She has completed her A levels in film studies and literature in London.

Jiah Khan
Vijay [Amitabh Bachchan], a photographer, lives with his wife [Revathy] at a picturesque hill station. Their daughter Ritu [Shraddha Arya] and her friend Jiah [Jiah Khan] visit them during holidays. It isn’t love at first sight for either Vijay or Jiah. But Vijay and Jiah are drawn towards each other.
It’s a love story between the two and how his family reacts to it. The writing is not crisp as it shows on screen throughout the bold flick. Jiah is attracted to her best friend’s father and falls in love with him. Her behavior is defiant and aggressive. She woos him openly, even though she’s sharing the roof with the man’s wife and daughter. Now that’s a bit difficult to absorb. Also, Jiah walks around in the skimpiest of outfits, making you wonder what her true intentions are. Does she need him to fulfill her physical needs? A vision that might not be approved or acknowledged by many! But then Varma doesn’t show any regards for a particular target audience in this film.
The filmmaker known for his hard-hitting realistic antics, ventures into Bhansali’s sublime romantic territory with his not so conventional pairing. In fact Ramu who usually uses a lot of brains in his films, puts in a lot of heart this time. Nishabd makes it apparent that Ramu hasn’t made this film with any pre-defined box office considerations but just out of his desire to narrate a story through his fervent vision. A vision that might not be approved or acknowledged by many! But then Varma doesn’t show any regards for a particular target audience in this film.
The debutante girl Jiah Khan commands a towering screen presence even in front of Amitabh Bachchan and exudes some razor sharp attitude. Her body language is impeccable and charm is endearingly natural. Cinematography [Amit Roy] is excellent. The lush green locales of Munnar lend the film a stunning look. Amitabh Bachchan is in top form, essaying the role with complete understanding. Newcomer Jiah Khan is supremely confident. Loaded with attitude and sex appeal, the newcomer carries off her part with flourish.
Even though there are just two tracks in the album, Nishabd makes a worthy hear. Both 'Rozana' and 'Take Lite' are extremely worthy hears and actually end up defining the character graphs of the two lead protagonists in the film. The numbers are bound to go down very well with the narrative and if RGV too has put his heart and soul in this project just as his music team has, Nishabd as a film could well turn out to be a surprise success of the season! Ram Gopal Varma has done it again. He's surprised us with a touching, deep and visibly personal effort, and if you were waiting with brickbats in hand.

Happy B'day, Mr. Bachchan: Jiah Khan
Newcomer Jiah Khan who is set to make a racy debut in Ram Gopal Varma's Nishabd, the Indian version of Lolita, opposite Amitabh Bachchan has sent birthday wishes for her co-star from London.
"We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. My first little treasure has been working with Amitabh Bachchan in my first film, Happy Birthday, Mr. Bachchan," said Jiah in a press statement. Amitabh turns 65 Wednesday.

Debutante Jiah has high aims in Bollywood
Mumbai, Oct 8. (UNI): Actress Jiah, who makes her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma's soon to be released "Nishabd," where she plays an 18 year old girl in love with a much older man, says she prefers unconditional love irrespective of whether it is from an older or younger man.
"At the end of the day its love, whether it comes from a person of your age or much older. Its mind over matter. You can't really stop falling in love with someone because of some invisible barriers. Personally I would just go with the flow", she said while interacting with mediapersons here.
Jiah is starring in "Nishabd", the Indian take on 'Lolita' opposite superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
Jiah who was born in New York and brought up in UK says that though she doesn't mind being called a "sex kitten" as she is free-spirited and quite comfortable with the title.
I would prefer to understand the different nuances of the character offered to me she explained.
She is also pleased that she is being launched in a big banner film at such an early stage of her career and wishes to do challenging roles in the future.
Jiah considers Amitabh Bachchan to be the sexiest star in the industry and considering her fetish for Men's perfume, she once told him during a film shoot that he smells good.

MUMBAI: Newcomer Jiah Khan is all set to make a racy a debut in Ram Gopal Verma's Nishabd - the Indian take on Lolita - opposite none other than the superstar Amitabh Bachchan. While her debut film is yet to be released, Jiah has already set Bollywood on fire with her sensuality and her devil may care attitude.
